An evening at the beach. For my friend Michelle.
Rough seas on Lake Michigan during an early Winter gale.
The former Traverse City State Hospital had a network of tunnels that connected various buildings. These were used for utilities (steam heat) as well as transporting patients. This tunnel is part of the historic tour.

This was taken in early October, 2016 at Franfort, Michigan. I enjoy taking photos after sunset, using long exposures to capture the waning light and the kaleidescope of color reflected by the water and sky.
The Brother’s Place is the former summer retreat of the Christian Brothers religious order. Located on Beaver Island, thirty miles offshore of Charlevoix, Michigan, it is now a lodge that offers spartan accommodations similar to what the monks would have experienced.
This photo was taken in the chapel. Lit only by the natural light that came through the frosted glass window, the crucifix and organ were gently illuminated. The full size high-resolution version of this photo shows greater detail of the subtle lines of the crucifix as well as the craftsmanship of the organ.
We paddled from St. John's harbor to between Beaver Island and Garden Island to watch the sunset. Lake Michigan was very calm and the sun reflected nicely. On the paddle back, a light fog began to settle and you couldn't distinguish the horizon. It felt like we were flying rather than paddling as it was hard to discern the water from the air.
